Musculus extensor digitorum lateralis

Overview

Extends the hind digit and assists in hock flexion. Its tendon passes under the lateral malleolus of the tibia.

Anatomical Details

Origin: Lateral collateral ligament of the stifle and proximal fibula

Insertion: Dorsal surface of the proximal phalanx (P1) of the hind limb

Action: Extends the hind digit; assists hock flexion

Innervation: Peroneal (fibular) nerve (L5-S2)
