Origin: Articular and transverse processes of lumbar, thoracic, and cervical vertebrae
Insertion: Spinous processes 2-4 segments cranially
Action: Stabilizes individual vertebral segments; provides proprioceptive feedback for posture
Innervation: Medial branches of dorsal rami of spinal nerves (segmental)
