Musculus mylohyoideus
A thin sheet of muscle forming the floor of the mouth between the two halves of the mandible. Supports the tongue and elevates the hyoid during swallowing.
Origin: Medial surface of the mandible (mylohyoid line)
Insertion: Median fibrous raphe between the two mandibles; basihyoid bone
Action: Elevates the floor of the mouth and hyoid bone during swallowing; supports the tongue
Innervation: Mylohyoid nerve (branch of mandibular division of trigeminal, CN V3)
