Radius et Ulna
The radius is the primary weight-bearing bone of the forearm. The ulna is fused to the proximal radius, its olecranon process forming the point of the elbow. Unlike humans, horses cannot rotate the forearm (pronate/supinate) because the radius and ulna are fused.

Action: Bears body weight between the elbow and carpus; the olecranon provides leverage for the triceps muscle to extend the elbow
The radius is subcutaneous medially. Olecranon fractures prevent weight bearing because the triceps cannot extend the elbow.
Can occur from kicks, falls, or racing injuries. Often results in catastrophic complete fractures in adults.
Fracture of the point of the elbow from direct trauma (kicks, falls). Important because the triceps inserts here - fracture means the horse cannot lock the elbow.
