Elevates and laterally deviates the tail. One of the four main tail muscles controlling dorsal and lateral tail movement.

Anatomical Details

Origin: Articular processes of sacral and caudal vertebrae

Insertion: Dorsolateral caudal vertebrae

Action: Elevates the tail and moves it laterally

Innervation: Caudal (coccygeal) spinal nerves
